Roles and permissions
Understand Relator’s two access levels, the agency team and the people of each client, and what each role can do.
In this article · 5 sections
Relator has two access levels. The agency team works across all clients. Client people only access the space of the client that invited them, through the portal. Each level has its own roles.

Rules that protect access
- The agency always keeps at least one Admin. The last one cannot be demoted or removed.
- A client with Admins keeps at least one. The client’s last Admin cannot be removed.
- Nobody removes their own access from the people list.
- Whoever leaves the agency loses access to the agency and to every client at once.
- Archiving a client cuts access for all of its people and cancels pending invites.
- Client people never see the Clients screen, other clients, RelatorAI or billing.

Common issues
- “You don’t have permission to invite.” On the client, only Admins invite. At the agency, only Admins and Owners.
- I can’t choose Admin when inviting someone from the client. Only the agency team grants the Admin role on a client.
- I can’t remove someone. They are the last Admin (of the agency or the client), or it is you. Give the Admin role to someone else first.
- A teammate cannot see the clients. Change their role to Admin in Settings › Team.
Frequently asked questions
Does the agency team take up room in each client’s members?
No. It shows on the client list with the “agency” tag, but access comes from the agency and needs no per-client invite.
Can I change a client person’s role?
Remove the person and invite them again with the right role. Only the agency can grant the Admin role.
Do client people count as seats?
No. Seats only count the agency team.
Do company accounts have roles?
No. A company account is for personal use and has no members screen.
