Edit mode is where you change an existing campaign or finish a new one. It shows the campaign structure on the left and the editor for the chosen item on the right. Every change is saved to a draft and only goes to the platform when you click Review and publish and confirm.
On Google Ads, the editor works with Search campaigns.
Some settings are still changed in the platform’s own manager: the editor tells you in the field when that’s the case.
Step by step
1
Step 1
Open the campaign in edit mode
In the Manage ads table, click Edit on the campaign row. For a new campaign draft, use Drafts or Continue → in Needs your attention. The Campaigns link at the top goes back to the table.
2
Step 2
Move through the structure
The Campaign structure shows the campaign, its ad sets (ad groups, on Google) and ads. Each item shows whether it’s Complete or how many issues it has, and whether it’s new or changed. Use + Ad set and + Ad (on Google, + Ad group and + Keyword) to add items, and Remove from draft to drop an item that hasn’t been published yet.

3Add ad sets and ads right from the tree.
4Review and publish shows how many items have changes.
3
Step 3
Adjust the item’s fields
The editor splits each item into sections. Use Search settings (e.g. bid, UTM, placements) to jump to a field. Every change is saved on its own, with the Saved to draft notice.
Meta campaign: Objective and category and Budget and bid.
Meta ad set: Conversion, Budget and schedule, Audience, Placements, Delivery and attribution and Transparency.
Meta ad: Identity, Format and media, Text and button, Destination, Tracking and Creative enhancements.
Google campaign: Basic, Budget, Bidding, Targeting, Callouts and Negative keywords; keywords and ads have Keyword, Ad text and URL.
4
Step 4
Change the budget
On Meta, the budget lives on the campaign or on each ad set, depending on Where the budget lives. Under Budget type, Daily spends up to the amount per day and Lifetime spends up to the amount over the whole period (and needs an End date). The Budget is always in the ad account currency.

5
Step 5
Check the preview (Meta)
On the ad, Preview in Meta › Generate preview shows how it looks in the Facebook feed, the Instagram feed, Stories and Reels, and Facebook Stories. The preview uses what is saved in the draft and nothing is uploaded to the account.
6
Step 6
Review and publish
Click Review and publish. The panel lists every item with changes and what will change. Only what is checked goes to the platform.

2An item with an issue doesn’t publish: Fix takes you to the missing field.
3Validate with the platform checks the changes without publishing anything.
4Publish sends only the checked items.
7
Step 7
Follow the publishing
Each item goes through Queued and Sending and ends as Published, Failed or Not sent, with the reason. If something fails, fix it and use Retry the failed ones.
Impact warnings
Before you publish, Relator tells you what the change causes on the platform, so you can decide calmly:
Increases spend
What it means
The budget or spend cap went up.
Restarts the learning phase
What it means
The platform starts learning who converts again; delivery may swing for a few days.
Goes back to platform review
What it means
The ad goes through review again before delivering.
New item: created on the platform on publish
What it means
The item doesn’t exist in the account yet.

What happens next
Published items take effect in the ad account. New ads or ads with creative changes usually go through the platform’s review: in the table they show as In review until approved. If something is rejected, the item shows up in Needs your attention.
To drop unpublished changes, use Reload from the platform (brings back the values that are live now) or Discard draft (the draft leaves the list; what is already on the platform stays as it is).
Common problems

How to fix it
Someone changed the campaign directly on the platform. Use Reload from the platform and redo the change.
Conflict: it changed somewhere else while you were editing.
How to fix it
Someone else edited the same draft. Click Reload to continue.

Reconnect Meta under Connections, accepting all permissions.
Meta asked for a pause; the rest was left for later

The platform limited the calls. Wait a minute and publish what’s left again.
Resolve creation in Meta
How to fix it
Publishing may have created the item without confirming. Pick the right item from the list or Create again.
Declare whether the campaign has European Union political advertising
How to fix it
On Google Ads, fill in EU political advertising on the campaign: without it, Google rejects any change.

Frequently asked questions
Are changes saved automatically?
Yes, to the draft, every time a field changes (you’ll see Saved to draft). They only reach the platform when you publish.
Can I publish only some of the changes?
Yes. In Review and publish, uncheck the items you don’t want to send now. They stay in the draft.
Is Validate with the platform required?
No. It’s an optional check: the platform reviews the changes and points out errors without publishing anything.
Does changing the budget restart the learning phase?
It depends on the change. Relator shows Restarts the learning phase on the field and in the review when it does.
Where do I set up Google Ads conversions and callouts?
With a Google account open, use Conversions & callouts at the top of Manage ads. That’s where the conversion actions and the callouts that apply to every campaign in the account live.
