Campaign spaces and detected initiatives

Bring Meta and Google campaigns from the same push (a launch, Black Friday) into one space with spend, traffic, sales and attribution added up. Relator suggests the groupings.

A marketing push rarely lives in a single channel: Black Friday has campaigns on Meta, on Google and its own utm on the website. A campaign space brings all of that together and adds up spend, GA4 traffic and CRM sales for the whole initiative, with the detail by campaign, ad set, ad, keyword and creative.

Spaces live in the Initiatives tab of Campaigns. That’s also where Detected initiatives show up: Relator reads campaign names and UTMs and proposes groupings that you review before they become a space.

Before you start

  • Meta Ads or Google Ads connected to the client. GA4 and a CRM complete the space with sessions, revenue and attribution.
  • Who can create, edit, archive and delete spaces: in the agency, any member; in the client’s space, the Admin and Editor roles; on a company account, the owner. Others see the spaces and proposals, without the tools.

Review the detected initiatives

Relator groups by the initiative’s name, never by its category. "[BR][LEAD][Black Friday]" on Meta and "Black Friday | Search" on Google go together; "[BR][LEAD][Campaign1]" and "[BR][LEAD][Campaign2]" don’t, because what repeats (BR, LEAD) is taxonomy, not a name. The GA4 utm_campaign reinforces a name already in the campaigns, but on its own it doesn’t create a group.

  1. 1
    Step 1

    Open the Initiatives tab

In Campaigns, click the Initiatives tab. The Detected initiatives block shows up before the list of spaces.

  2. 2
    Step 2

    Check each proposal’s evidence

Each proposal shows channels, campaigns, ads and spend in the period, the confidence and the WHY WE GROUPED box (for example, "same name: Black Friday · identical across 4 campaigns").

    • High confidence: the same name in every campaign, a confirming utm and two channels.
    • Medium confidence: the same name in every campaign, but a single channel or no utm.
    • Low confidence: the name covers only part of the group, or the group was put together by hand.

    Step 3

    Fix whatever is wrong

Nothing is saved until you create the space, so adjust freely:

    • Rename initiative: click the pencil next to the name.
    • Remove from group or Split into a new group: in the campaign row menu.
    • Add campaigns: search by name among the ungrouped ones and those in other proposals (the Where it is column warns you if the campaign will leave another proposal).
    • Merge with…: brings another proposal’s campaigns into this one.
    • Discard: the campaigns go back to Outside any initiative, where New group creates a proposal.
    • Undo: reverts the last change, step by step.
  4. 4
    Step 4

    Create the space

Click Create space on the proposal. The space is created with the reviewed name and campaigns, plus the attribution rule from the confirmed utm, and opens right away. Proposals you changed carry the Adjusted by you mark.

Create a space from scratch

  1. 1
    Step 1

    Click New campaign

In the Initiatives tab, in the All campaigns list, click New campaign.

  2. 2
    Step 2

    Add a name and goals

In Step 1 of 3 — name and goals, fill in Name (required), the description, Start and End and, if you want, Spend goal, Conversions goal and Revenue goal. Click Next.

  3. 3
    Step 3

Choose campaigns, ad sets or ads

In Step 2 of 3, switch between Campaigns, Ad sets and Ads, search by name and filter by platform, account and status. Select all from filter checks everything the filter shows at once.

  4. 4
    Step 4

    Set the attribution

In Step 3 of 3 — attribution, the Automatic (by campaign names and tracked clicks) option already works without UTMs. To reinforce it, open Refine with UTM (advanced) and enter the initiative’s utm_campaign values. Click Create campaign.

What’s inside a space

  • Data health: how many of the three sources (paid media, GA4 and CRM) have brought data for the period.
  • Attribution readiness: whether spend and revenue are already being matched through the space’s campaigns.
  • Combined indicators: Spent, impressions, clicks, CTR, CPC, Conversions, CPA, Revenue, ROAS and Sessions, compared with the previous period.
  • Decision: the period’s signal (CPA up, ROAS down or stable performance), with View ads.
  • Action queue: shortcuts to what’s worth a look, such as ads with spend and zero conversions.
  • Detail tabs: Campaigns, Ad sets, Ads, Keywords, Search terms, Audiences, Creatives and Attribution, with Columns to choose what to see and Load more.

In the Attribution tab, CRM revenue is linked to the space’s campaigns by gclid and, without it, by utm_campaign. Revenue that doesn’t match any campaign doesn’t inflate ROAS. See Attribution by UTM and gclid.

At the top of the space, people who can manage it find Edit selection (add or remove campaigns, ad sets and ads), Export (CSV of the detail, in your language), Archive/Reactivate and Delete.

Frequently asked questions

Can a campaign be in more than one space?

Yes. A space is a slice for analysis; it doesn’t touch the campaign. In detected proposals, though, each campaign goes into one proposal only.

Does deleting a space delete the campaigns?

No. Deleting removes only the space in Relator. The campaigns stay on the platforms and in the reports. If you just want it off the list, use Archive.

Why weren’t two campaigns with "LEAD" in the name grouped?

Because "LEAD" is a category, not an initiative name. Relator only groups by the part of the name that identifies the push, such as "Black Friday" or "Course X".

Do I need UTMs for the space to work?

No. Automatic attribution uses campaign names and tracked clicks. UTM is an optional reinforcement.
