At the top of Performance, CRM, Goals and Portfolio there are two controls: the period you want to see and the comparison used for changes (the up and down arrows). The default period is Last 30 days, compared with the Prior period.
Step by step
1
Step 1
Open the date picker
Click the period button at the top of the screen. It shows the shortcut name, like Last 30 days, or the dates.

Step 2
Pick a shortcut or dates on the calendar
Shortcuts are on the left; a two-month calendar is on the right. For free dates, click the start day and then the end day.
Today and Yesterday.
Last 7 days, Last 14 days, Last 30 days and Last 90 days: they include today.
This week and Last week: Monday-to-Sunday weeks.
This month and Last month.
Custom: the range you mark on the calendar.

Step 3
Save it as default, if you like
Check Use as default before choosing. Next time, screens open on that period. A custom range is saved as "last N days", so it stays current over time.
4
Step 4
Choose the comparison
Click the comparison button next to the period and choose Prior period, Prior year or No comparison. The screen shows Comparing to and the dates used.

Prior period is the range of the same length right before the chosen one. That is why "This month" through the 7th compares with the 7 previous days, not the whole previous month.
Prior year uses the same dates one year earlier. February 29 becomes February 28.
No comparison hides the changes.
Time zone, links and days in progress
Shortcuts are calculated in the client's time zone, not your computer's. See Time zone and currency.
The period and comparison are stored in the page address. Anyone who opens the link sees the same view, and "Last 7 days" stays relative the next day.
Periods that end today include a day still in progress, marked Partial. Compare carefully: today always looks smaller.
On a phone, the picker opens as a bottom sheet, Choose date range, with shortcuts and the calendar. Tap Apply to confirm or Cancel to leave without changes.
Frequently asked questions
Why doesn't the "This month" comparison use the whole previous month?
Because the prior period always has the same length as the chosen one. Comparing 7 days with 30 would distort the changes.
Does the period I pick apply to reports?
No. Reports have their own period, set in the editor and in scheduling. See Create a report.
Can I compare any two periods?
On analysis screens, the comparison is with the prior period or the prior year. For other ranges, use the "Period comparison" report template.
Does the saved default apply to the whole team?
No. It lives in your browser and applies only to you.
