Why Search Console shows up late

Google publishes search data 2 to 3 days later. See what that changes on screen and how to build comparisons that make sense.

Search Console has no data for today or yesterday. It's not a Relator or connection failure: Google itself only publishes search data 2 to 3 days later, already consolidated. Relator imports this final data, so numbers don't change after they appear.

What changes on screen

  • In the date picker, the Today and Yesterday shortcuts are disabled on Search Console screens. Hovering shows: "Search Console publishes data 2 to 3 days late."
  • If the chosen period hasn't been published yet, the screen shows Search Console hasn't published this day yet and the See the latest published day button.
  • In periods that end today, like "Last 7 days", the last 2 or 3 days show as zero on the chart.

What you see when you ask for a day Google hasn't published yet.
  1. 1The chosen period doesn't have data published by Google yet.
  2. 2See the latest published day takes you to the most recent day with data.

How to build comparisons that make sense

  1. 1
    Step 1

End the period 3 days ago

In the date picker, choose Custom and end the range three days before today. That way you don't compare empty days with full ones.

  2. 2
    Step 2

    Prefer closed weeks or months

Last week and Last month work well from the third day of the following week or month.

  3. 3
    Step 3

    Watch out for scheduled reports

A report sent Monday morning about the previous week won't have the last days of search yet. Schedule it a few days later, or use a period that ends earlier.

Details that help

  • Search Console closes the day in Pacific Time, not in your local time.
  • On every pass, Relator rereads the last 3 days to pick up what Google published since last time.
  • Google keeps 16 months of performance data. Anything older doesn't exist to fetch.

When the delay is a real problem

The normal delay is 2 to 3 days. Be suspicious when the last day with data is more than 4 days old, or when an older period that should already be published shows empty. In those cases:

  1. 1.Open Sources and check the site's status. If it is Failed or Stale, follow Manage connections.
  2. 2.In Search Console itself, check that the site is still verified and that your login still has access to it.
  3. 3.If everything looks right and the gap remains, contact support.

Frequently asked questions

Can I see today's organic clicks anywhere?

In Relator, use GA4: it shows today's organic search sessions, which update every hour.

Does resync make yesterday's data appear?

No. Until Google publishes it, there's nothing to fetch.

Why does the day before yesterday sometimes already appear?

The delay varies between 2 and 3 days, depending on when Google finishes processing.
