The invite didn't arrive or doesn't work

Relator has two kinds of invite: for the agency team (under Settings › Team) and for people on a client's side (in the Members tab of the client profile, in Clients). In both cases the person gets an email with a link to join. If the email doesn't arrive or the link fails, walk through the causes below.

Possible causes, from most to least common

1. The email landed in spam or a filter

Ask the person to check spam, Promotions and corporate email quarantine. Companies with strict filters may hold emails that contain links; their IT team can allow the sender.

2. The address was mistyped

Check the address in the pending invite list. If it's wrong, cancel the invite and invite again with the right address.

3. The person is already in your organization

For a client invite, if the person is already in your organization, they get direct workspace access and don't need a new email. Ask them to sign in to Relator and switch spaces in the switcher at the top.

4. The link expired or was already used

When opening the link, the person sees We couldn't accept the invitation and The link may have expired or been used already. Ask the admin to resend. Cancel the invite and send a new one.

5. The link was opened with another account

The invite is tied to the invited email. If the browser is already signed in with another account, sign out and open the link again. On the Confirm your access screen, the Not you? Cancel option is there for exactly this case.

6. The plan has no seats left

In an agency, each member takes a seat, and pending invites count too. If the limit is reached, instead of sending the invite Relator opens the plan picker with Your {plan} plan allows N users; you already use N. Cancel old invites or see Plan limit reached.

7. You don't have permission to invite

In a client's space, only the Admin role can invite. Editor and Viewer see You don't have permission to invite. Ask an Admin. See Roles and permissions.

8. The client was archived

Archiving a client revokes access for everyone who was invited and cancels pending invites. An invite link from an archived client doesn't work anymore.

How to resend an invite

For the agency team, use Resend on the pending invite in the Team section: Invitation resent. confirms it. For people on a client’s side, cancel the pending invite and invite again. The new email goes out right away.

  1. 1
    Step 1

    Open the people list

For the agency team, open Settings in the sidebar and, in the Agency group, pick Team. For people on a client’s side, open the client in Clients and the Members tab of its profile.

  2. 2
    Step 2

    Find the pending invite

In Team, invites show under N pending invitations, with the email and when it was sent, and the Resend and Cancel buttons. Check that the address is right.

    Frequently asked questions

How long is an invite valid?

The link can expire. If the person sees The link may have expired or been used already, use Resend, or cancel it and send a new invite.

Does a pending invite take a plan seat?

In an agency, yes: seats count members and pending invites. Cancelling an invite that won't be used frees the seat.

Can I invite someone outside the company to the agency team?

Yes, with any email. To give access to someone on the client's side, prefer inviting them in the client's space, where they only see that client's data.

Can a self-serve account (company or solo) invite people?

No. In a self-serve account, the members screen shows Standalone workspaces are personal. Invite a team by creating an organization.
