Create custom metrics

Build a formula on top of one platform's metrics (cost per lead, conversion rate, sum of campaigns) without writing code.

A custom metric is a formula built on metrics that already exist in the catalog, such as “Amount spent ÷ Leads” to get a cost per lead with the name your client uses. You pick a model, choose metrics from searchable lists and see a preview of the last 30 days before saving. Once created, it shows up in the catalog, opens its own detail page and can go on any of the client's dashboards.

Before you start

  • Who can create, edit and delete: the account owner (company), the agency team and, on the client side, the Admin and Editor roles. Viewer can only see.
  • The metric belongs to the open client. To use the same formula for another client, create it again there.
  • All metrics in the formula must come from the same platform (for example, only Meta Ads). You can't divide Google Ads spend by Meta Ads leads in a custom metric.
  • The platform must be connected and active for the client: the formula is validated against that connection's real data.

Step by step

  1. 1
    Step 1

    Open New metric

In Metrics, click New metric. The New custom metric window opens.

  2. 2
    Step 2

    Name and identify it

Fill in the identification fields. Slug, title and category are required.

    • Slug (unique id): a short identifier with no spaces, such as cpl_meta. It can't be changed later.
    • Title: the name shown in the catalog and on dashboards, such as “Cost per lead”.
    • Description: optional; explains the formula to readers.
    • Category: groups the metric in the catalog, for example efficiency.
  3. 3
    Step 3

    Pick a model

The Models buttons build the formula structure and suggest the format and the good direction:

    • Ratio: A ÷ B (decimal format, good when it goes up).
    • Cost per: cost ÷ result (currency format, good when it goes down).
    • Percentage: (A ÷ B) × 100 (percentage format).
    • Sum, Difference and Multiplication: A + B, A − B and A × B; the format comes from the first metric.
    • Custom: starts empty so you can build it term by term.

    1. 1The model builds the structure and suggests format and direction.
    2. 2The platform limits which metrics can go into the formula.
    3. 3Each formula term is picked from a searchable list; the preview shows below.
    4. 4Create metric unlocks once the formula is valid and the required fields are filled in.
  4. 4
    Step 4

Pick the platform and the metrics

In Platform, select the source. In each formula term, click Choose metric and search by name. Use Add with an operator (+, −, ×, ÷) to include more terms, Group to add parentheses and Remove last to undo. The list also lets you use a fixed number (for example, 100) with Use number.

  5. 5
    Step 5

Check the validation and the preview

Once every term is filled in, Relator validates the formula against the connection's data. Valid formula appears and, right below it, the result for the last 30 days (“R$ 28.40 in the last 30 days”). If something is wrong, the message says what: an empty term, a metric that doesn't exist in the catalog or a division by zero. Show expression displays the written formula.

  6. 6
    Step 6

    Set format and direction

In Format, choose Currency, Integer, Percentage or Decimal. In Good when, say whether the metric is better when it goes Up or Down. This direction sets the color of changes and which day counts as the “best day” on the detail page.

  7. 7
    Step 7

    Save

Click Create metric. The metric goes into the Custom metrics source of the catalog, with the same card as the others.

Edit, duplicate and delete

On a custom metric's card, open the Actions menu and choose Edit, Duplicate or Delete. The metric's detail page also has a Duplicate button. The copy starts with the title “Cópia de …” and needs a new slug.

Exact metric names depend on the platform; use the picker's search to find the right one.

Common problems

  • Create metric stays disabled → the slug, title, category or platform is missing, or the formula isn't valid yet.
  • “The metric … was not found in the catalog” → the metric no longer exists in the connection (for example, the account was switched). Pick another metric for that term.
  • “The formula divides by zero” → you used the number 0 as a divisor. Change the divisor.
  • The preview shows — → there was no data for those metrics in the last 30 days. You can still create the metric.

Frequently asked questions

Can I mix Meta Ads and Google Ads in the same formula?

No. Each custom metric uses a single platform. To see both together, build a dashboard with one metric from each or ask RelatorAI.

Can I type the formula by hand?

You don't need to. The formula is built by choosing metrics and operators; this avoids typos and guarantees every metric exists.

Do custom metrics work in goals?

Goals use their own metric list, with platform metrics, overall CPA and ROAS and CRM metrics. Custom metrics live in the catalog, the detail pages and dashboards.

Does the client see custom metrics?

If they have access to the app, they see them in their own catalog. In the portal, they only see what is in shared reports and dashboards.
